Mini Biography: Rihanna (full name, Robyn Rihanna Fenty) was born on Feb. 18th 1988 and raised in the parish of St. Michael. Back home she lived a normal teenage, went to high school and enjoyed singing songs for fun with friends, never did she dream that one day she would be part of one of the biggest record companies out there today (DefJam). Even though Rihanna won her school beauty & talent pageant she never realized how talented she really was. Thanks to a mutual friend she was introduced to a New York music producer Evan Rogers and it took her just a few songs before he realized that she one day will be a great singer. Evan then invited Rihanna to New York to record some tracks, tracks that would change her life forever.

One in New York, Rihanna, Evan and Carl (Evan's partner who has produced tracks for other major artist) put together close to a dozen songs. The songs were inspired by the dancehall and reggae that is embedded in Rihanna's rich musical culture, they then fused it with a fresh R&B sound. Rihanna also says that "My music is mostly Caribbean beats mixed with R&B. I don't want to be pigeon holed into being just a dance artist because I can sing too. I have ballads on the album as well as upbeat tracks."
